This year marks the 20th anniversary of MANOWAR's epic "Kings Of Metal" album. MANOWAR and MAGIC CIRCLE MUSIC will celebrate this milestone with a massive open-air festival from July 9 to July 12, 2008, giving the fans four days of unlimited metal madness.

The release date for the new METALLICA album, "De4th Magnetic", is Wednesday, September 17. Although no official release date has yet been announced, it is likely that the CD will be issued in the U.S. on September 16. METALLICA's ninth studio effort, "De4th Magnetic" will contain either 10 or 11 tracks. No song titles have been confirmed, although "My Apocalypse" was cited as one by Rolling Stone magazine. The band did not play any new songs at the recent Bonnaroo festival, although a selected group of U.S. and U.K. journalists have had a chance to preview six tunes from the upcoming release.

The life and career of MOTÖRHEAD frontman Lemmy Kilmister is being celebrated in a new documentary, tentatively titled "Lemmy" and slated for release in 2009.

AC/DC have left music stores across the country thunderstruck as the Australian band’s new album, due out in the fall, will be released exclusively through Wal-Mart. The still-untitled, Brendan O’Brien-produced album will be the group’s first since 2000’s Stiff Upper Lip. AC/DC join a club currently occupied by Garth Brooks, Journey and the Eagles as artists who have made their albums exclusively available for purchase via the retail giant
Hammerfall: The DVD Rebels With A Cause - Unruly, Unrestrained, Uninhibited (DVD) will be a continuation of the previous two (The First Crusade and The Templar/Renegade Crusades) and will contain newly recorded interviews with the band interspersed with footage from their own cameras.
The time span is six years, from the beginning of 2002 until the end of 2007, and it's edited together as a documentary of sorts, i.e. one continuous film, but of course with chapters.
Also included will be all six promo videos made during the time in question plus some behind the scenes, four professionally filmed live songs from Filderstadt 2005, five TV clips they have purchased the rights to from SVT (the Swedish national television network) and some more homemade stuff as bonus. The complete running time is estimated to be almost three hours.
Artist Joshua Emerick, who has previously worked with The Beatles, CKY, Social Distortion and Sonic Youth, has created a DEATH ANGEL-themed comic book in collaboration with the DEATH ANGEL bandmembers.

As previously reported, CANDLEMASS recently spent time in the studio recording a new EP, Lucfer Rising, for a tentative release via Nuclear Blast Records. It will include two brand new tracks - "Lucifer Rising" and "The White God" - plus a whole bunch of live tracks from the previous tour. A new album will be recorded in the fall for a spring 2009 release.
"Anvil! The Story of Anvil", a mockumentary-like true account of fiftysomething Canadian heavy-metal practitioners Steve "L1ps" Kudlow (guitar) and Robb Reiner (drums) who, after a desultory European tour with their band ANVIL, decide to record a 13th album in a final attempt to fulfill their boyhead dreams of stardom, will be shown at Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) on Saturday, May 31 at 6:30 p.m. during the annual Sundance Institute at BAM series, which highlights films from the Sundance Film Festival. The premiere will be followed by a live performance by ANVIL at BAMcafé.

MANOWAR has been confirmed to perform at the Kaliakra Rock Fest 2008, set to take place on July 5th in Kavarna, Bulgaria. The Metal Mayor of Kavarna, Tsonko Tsonev and Joker Media will bring the Kings Of Metal once again for what is certain to be another historic concert on the shores of the Black Sea. Last year's performance was attended by 25,000 fans who witnessed over 2,5 hours of true metal along with an awe-inspiring rendition of Bulgaria's national anthem, Mila Rodino. MANOWAR's headlining show will be preceded by Sixth Sense and HolyHell.

Carcass vocalist/bassist Jeff Walker will be making a guest appearance on the new upcoming Cypher album. Walker will feature in a vocal battle with Cypher's frontman T on the track: 'The Plague Race'. Currently the band is in pre-production mode and completing the new material for their sophomore album which will likely surface fall/winter 2008.
After months of speculation, the official Ozzfest site announced the date, site and lineup for this year’s Ozzfest. The event will take place on August 9th and will be held at the unfortunately named Pizza Hut Park in Dallas, TX. Ozzy Osbourne himself tops a bill that also includes Metallica, Serj Tankian and Jonathan Davis on the main stage. Two other stages will feature up-and-comers like Dev1ldriver, W1tchcraft and the Sword. This is the first year in its twelve year history that Ozzfest won’t be a touring festival, and unlike last year’s version fans will actually have to pay to get in. Tickets go on sale on Saturday, May 31st.
